| Georgina Winter Interview (July 2009)
Birthday: 12/11/91 Hometown: Luton, England Reside: Hitchin, England Started Skating: 2005 or something Sponsors: Rogue Skateboards and Base Camp One Skate Shop How were you introduced to skateboarding and what got you started? I remember seeing my friend ollie up a curb and thought it was the coolest thing ever. Do you remember what your first setup was? I think it was my neighbour's manky old Tomb Raider thing from Toys R Us!
Were there any early influences on your skating? It took me so long to learn how to ollie and I found these random videos on the internet, it was like freestyle skating and by the time I found out it was "uncool" it was far too late! You don't have to ollie to pogo! From then just everyone i saw skating really. How is the skate scene in the UK? I figure just like any other, you get the greatest people with the best attitudes but then there are also the biggest idiots. More and more girl skaters are appearing all over the place as well which is always good! What is the best and worst thing about your hometown? The people that live here, and the people that live here. Besides skateboarding, what do you like to do in your spare time? Play some poor excuse for music, chill with the boyfriend and party with friends.
What is your typical day like? Get up, go to school, then skate if i haven't got to go to work. Do you prefer to skate with guys or girls? Both I guess, don't really have a preference. Where do you like to skate? London, before the train prices went through the roof! St Albans or just Hitchin's lame excuse for a skatepark. Who do you like to skate with? Everyone ! Usually the boyo and a few others. What kind of music do you listen to? Um, absolutely everything. Can't really specify anything, I just like music! What is something most people don't know about you? I'm a triplet and we're all black belts, don't mess. Haha! So far, what have been some of the highlights of your skateboarding? Just getting to go places in the UK and Europe that I would never have got to go to if I didn't skate. So much fun.
What do you have planned for this year? Filming for the Rogue video, and just generally skating whenever and wherever I can. Shout outs and thanks? Huge thanks to my entire family who are just a bunch of legends, to Ryan, to all those who got me skating and keep me skating, and to Rogue skateboards and BC1. Hell, I'll just thank everyone I know, cheers!
